a short story

I was born on 15 July 1979 and re-born on 18 January 2024 – the surgery date. Initially, I pursued a career as a head chef and nutritionist, working across various restaurants and earning second place in a national competition by the Caterplan Cook’s Union in 2001. My culinary journey began at the age of eight with beef meatballs. Later, I contributed to a hospital kitchen, preparing meals and formulating diets for patients with diverse needs. Despite my expertise, I faced challenges with obesity, illustrating that knowledge alone isn’t a safeguard. In 2009, I shifted my focus to the commercial sector and now run a consulting and translation business in Scotland.

The speed of life, work demands, and stress often lead to unhealthy lifestyles, regardless of our body shape or sized. I aim to share my experiences, thoughts, and the critical moments that led to my weight becoming a severe health risk. I believe many will resonate with my story. As I navigate this new chapter, I’ll document the highs and lows, embracing the unknown. With considerable physical and mental fortitude, I’m committed to achieving a healthy state. I plan to post recipes, recount activities and excursions, and provide updates on my gym routine and fitness progress.
