6-week’s check up

I had been waiting for this day for quite a long time. I saw my surgeon who was very happy with the procedure, the wounds are healing and my weight is going down. He saw a change in me, a positive attitude to life, a willingness to do things – basically looking forward to get a green light to do other activities. I will finally be able to ride my stationary bike. I can lengthen my walks, but I have to listen to my body – he said. Things that are still banned include the swimming pool due to the chemicals in the water and of course weight training at the gym is still not allowed. I can lift up to 5kg for now. Yay!

After consulting my surgeon, I met with a nutritionist who interviewed me and she seemed happy with my new eating style. I feel that I am differently minded about food now. The main change is eating a meal that is designed to make me not hungry instead of make me full – against the odds this makes a huge difference.

They have sent the letter to my doctor requesting the prescription for all vitamins and minerals, that includes B12 IV. Luckily, this will be provided on NHS (National Health Service) until end of my life. So far they have postponed this for 6 week’s as apparently vitamins and minerals could upset my stomach. B12 IV will be provided by the qualified nurse.

My next appointment with my surgeon will be after 2 years, assuming there will be no emergencies visits, but I will meet up with the nutritionist within the next 8 weeks’.
