home sweet home
A wonderful feeling. Entering the house, I was welcomed by my two daughters and the wonderful writing on the wall “Welcome home, get well soon”. My daughter is an artist, she made this sign with the orange colour of course, as it is my favourite one.
I was tired, but fortunately I was able to enjoy a few spoonfuls of unsweetened jelly. A shower was the second thing that followed. Resting, sleeping and recovering from such an invasive procedure were my main activities for the next few days.
I went for a walk. After 15 minutes, I felt as if I had been on a trip to Mordor (Lord of the Rings). However, I was happy that everything was going in the right direction. My wounds were healing, I was returning to full strength.
Two weeks passed. My menu changed to puree. Yay! First meal – mashed potatoes with carrot and cheddar cheese! But it was delicious, I didn’t think potatoes were that good! Then cream soup, bolognese with mashed rice, home made hummus! (recipe coming soon).
Twenty-minute walks have become a new habit. Usually every day, although sometimes I took a day off. Our dog was delighted. I’m really looking forward to getting back to the gym. The weight has come off and I can really feel it on the walks – it’s much easier. I’ve been surreptitiously stepping on the scale and watching the changes with astonishment. I’ll reveal that to you in the next post.
